Teams That Team - Team to Learn

In recent newsletters, I shared the two most significant shifts teams made to transition to become more high-performing teams and flourish:

1. They discovered their power of purpose.

2. They made it safer by being braver.

The third most impactful shift teams made was to develop a learning culture – they teamed to learn.

In building a culture of learning, they recognised and accessed more of their collective capacity and capabilities – they tapped into the infinite wisdom inherent in a high-performing team.

To build a culture of learning, the teams made 3 significant changes:

1. They become more curious – they sought more feedback. They were curious to discover the learning from the feedback by:

  • Asking for it

  • Listening to it

  • Thinking about it

  • Thanking others for it

  • Acting on it

2. They took responsibility for each other’s learning – rather than identify their own learning priorities and plans, they developed each other’s. They took responsibility for their own and each other’s learning, growth, and success.

3. They demonstrated greater humility – they demonstrated greater humility by being vulnerable. They opened themselves to learn, and often said:

  • “I don’t know…”

  • “What do you think about…”

  • “I need help with…”

INVITATION

To learn more with and from your team members and access the collective wisdom, I invite you to:

  • Be curious and ask, “how may I be contributing to this issue?”

  • Learn from others and ask, “what could I unlearn to learn?”

  • Be humble and ask, “I need your help with…”

Teams that learn together, flourish together.

May you flourish.
