State of Teams

I’m pleased to share the State of Teams 2026 white paper which includes the results of a decade analysing executive teams in action.

The findings are not surprising, however, concerning.

Despite teams being the predominate unit of organisational performance, most teams operate significantly less than the sum of their parts. As Michael Dell observed, “a culture of teamwork is an organisation’s most competitive advantage as it’s the only thing a competitor can’t copy.”

The data shows:

80% of teams flounder more than they flourish

These results are consistent with research published in the Harvard Business Review that found 75% of cross-functional teams are dysfunctional.

In State of Teams 2026, I outline:

The three most common reasons teams flounder more than they flourish

The four shifts that move teams from floundering to flourishing

My intent is to offer you practical insight into how your team is performing and where the greatest opportunity for improved impact lies.

I hope it prompts a conversation worth having with your team.

May you flourish.
